Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS)

Sierra Business Council administers the Sierra Economic Development District (SEDD), which includes El Dorado, Nevada, Placer,  Sierra, and Plumas counties. We’re currently developing the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for these five counties.

The upcoming SEDD CEDS will be published Summer 2023 and is an update on 2018-2022 CEDS that covers El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, and Sierra and was written by Sierra Business Council in 2017.

Read the 2018-2022 CEDS and provide updates relevant to the 2023 revision below.

A CEDS is a roadmap designed to build resilience and diversify the regional economy. The CEDS brings together public, private and philanthropic sectors and the document is required to qualify for future funding from the U.S. Economic Development Administration and other agencies.

The goal of the Sierra Economic Development District CEDS is to codify a regional strategy to advance prosperity and improve quality of life in communities that are primarily rural and socio-economically and ecologically diverse. This strategy is designed to increase regional economic capacity, diversify local economies, promote broadband, and guide prosperity and resiliency of the area.
