Sam has six years of experience in the environmental sustainability field and has worked across the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Prior to joining SBC, Sam worked at Ascent Environmental where he developed cutting-edge climate action and adaptation plans for local governments in California. In his roles at the Sierra Nevada Alliance and at ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, Sam assisted public agencies in the Truckee-Tahoe region and across the country in mitigating GHG emissions and enhancing climate resilience. Sam is also passionate about building energy efficiency. While working for Resilient Buildings Group, he realized the power of energy efficiency in addressing climate change while providing a variety of social and economic co-benefits. He has experience conducting energy benchmarking analyses and energy audits for commercial entities and public agencies, including municipalities, housing authorities, water utilities, and school districts. Sam holds a B.Sc. in Renewable Resource Management from McGill University, and he currently serves on the boards of the Sierra Nevada Alliance and Climate Action Guide.

Originally from New Hampshire, Sam moved to the Tahoe region after college to pursue his dream of skiing west coast powder for a season. Six years later, he’s grateful to now call Truckee home and is thrilled to be contributing to climate solutions in his community and throughout the Sierra Nevada. Outside of work, Sam is an avid outdoors person and is happiest skiing, fly fishing, backpacking, and mountain biking with friends and family.
