Keeping our clients informed on all relevant energy efficiency opportunities is core to Sierra Nevada Energy Watch’s (SNEW’s) mission. For this month’s SNEW Blog, we are excited to be announcing two opportunities for our network to tune into how you can benefit from our work. On March 8, SNEW is co-hosting a webinar with the Sierra Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Partnership (Sierra CAMP) that will cover the ins-and-outs of building energy efficiency projects, including information on free services that are available to support these efforts.

We’re also thrilled to be providing another full-ride scholarship to enroll in the Building Operator Certification (BOC) Training Series so that you can build capacity within your organization at no cost. Please see below for more information.

Sierra Camp & SNEW - Rural Solutions Part 1

Webinar: March 8, 2023, 12 pm

SNEW is excited to partner with Sierra Climate Adaptation & Mitigation Partnership (Sierra CAMP) to present a webinar describing the benefits of building energy upgrades and the free services provided to Sierra Nevada public agencies. The webinar will explain the process by which energy efficiency upgrades are completed, starting with benchmarking reports and ending with funding opportunities and installations. The presentation will also include additional opportunities public agencies can work on to reduce emissions, such as creating a climate action plan or developing a vulnerability assessment.

Free Building Operator Certification (BOC) Training

The SNEW program is offering to subsidize the training costs for public agency staff to complete the Fundamental Level or Level 1 BOC training this Spring ($2,095 value). These courses are designed to help building engineers, maintenance supervisors, and facilities professionals advance their skills and careers in energy efficient operation of commercial buildings. If you would like to apply for a scholarship, please email us at SNEW@sierrabusiness.org.

  • Fundamentals: March 7 – April 5, 2023
  • Level 1: May 9 – June 8, 2023

SNEW is committed to assisting our Sierra Nevada public agencies and small- to medium-sized businesses in saving energy and reducing costs. We hope the above educational opportunities will help rural public agency staff and community members build capacity and knowledge to take the next steps in sustainability and climate resilience.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to the SNEW team with any questions by emailing SNEW@sierrabusiness.org.

CERF Focus Groups Summer 2023

As regional conveners of the Eastern Sierra CERF Region, Sierra Business Council is currently engaged in a stakeholder mapping process that includes engaging disinvested community members in a sustainable and equitable economic planning process. Our goal is to provide an inclusive forum in which community members feel encouraged to participate in, and ownership of, CERF plans and strategies that will diversify the local economy and develop sustainable industries, creating high-quality, broadly accessible jobs in this 7-county region.
