Join SBC at these Upcoming Events Across the Region
Sierra Business Council is working with 13 community based organizations (CBOs) representing 16 counties across California to gain critical feedback from community members on climate risks and vulnerability through PG&E’s Resilient Together Initiative. This initiative houses PG&E Climate Adaptation and Vulnerability Assessment (CAVA), which analyzes how rising temperatures, extreme weather, sea level rise, and wildfire affect PG&E’s ability to provide safe and reliable energy. These assessments are conducted every 4 years and provide crucial information for PG&E to invest in energy infrastructure, maintenance, and programming for customers.
The outreach period began in February 2026 and extends to August 2026 to ensure organizations gain representative feedback from their communities over the course of seven months. Feedback is collected in the form of a community survey taken either digitally or in person at various events hosted by CBOs. SBC’s role in the CAVA is to support CBO partners with outreach materials, connection to PG&E’s existing programs and regional leadership, and oversee the delivery of qualitative data provided to PG&E.
The purpose of this assessment is to ensure the voices of community members are heard, and their feedback is taken into consideration for future decision-making and development of PG&E programs and services.

PG&E is also requesting feedback from municipalities in the region to gain their feedback on the climate hazards and vulnerabilities of their community members. If you are a public agency, please consider providing feedback to this municipal survey by May 1st!

California’s 2026-27 legislative session wrapped up September 1 after a turbulent final week of negotiations over wildfire policy, funding, and the state budget. While a last-minute proposal on wildfire liability ultimately stalled, the Legislature did restore and increase funding for climate resilience through Proposition 4 and the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF)—a meaningful outcome for Sierra communities amid a challenging state budget year.
The final plan includes $329.5 million for wildfire and forest resilience through Prop 4 and $118 million for wildfire prevention through GGRF. While these investments are an improvement over the June budget, wildfire resilience funding remains near historic lows, with no clear plan for sustained investment in future years.
