Swinging for the Fences: SBC Partners with the Reno Aces

When you think of Sierra Business Council, baseball probably isn’t the first thing to come to mind. Hopefully, you think of Sierra Nevada economic development, community vitality, and environmental regard all centered on the triple bottom line. This summer though, baseball is joining the mix via our friends at the Reno Aces. That’s right: we’re swinging for the fences in our efforts to let more people know about the work SBC does in the region, and baseball fans have the opportunity to give a little in return just by attending a game on July 6th.

Reno Aces RenoImageSince the team’s inception in 2009 as the Arizona Diamondback’s Triple-A affiliate ball club, (formerly known as the Tucson Sidewinders), the Aces have maintained a focus on making a positive impact in the Northern Nevada region by building partnerships with local non-profit organizations. SBC is excited to join the ranks of non-profit partners this summer as a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales for the July 6th game will benefit SBC, and in turn, the Sierra. Aside from supporting SBC’s mission for a prosperous and sustainable Sierra Nevada, the Reno Aces are excited to bring the mountains’ baseball fans together – which should be especially intriguing considering who they’re playing.

Monday, July 6th,will see the Sacramento River Cats battle it out against the Aces in a battle for Sierra Nevada fans – whether you follow their major league ball clubs or not (the River Cats are the San Francisco Giants’ Triple-A club), any baseball fan can get behind rooting for a team in their region’s backyard!

SBC supporters and fans of the game alike can purchase discounted tickets for only $12 each via the SBC website, meaning not only will you enjoy a beautiful night at the ballpark in support of an organization doing good work in your region, but you get a great deal as well. While I can’t imagine needing more than a win-win-win to go ahead and plan on joining us, I will mention that Monday, July 6th, is the Aces $1.00 ribs and hot dogs night – and because I don’t eat pork you know there will be more than enough for you and yours! There will also be a no host reception before the game starting at 6:00 PM at Duffy’s Ale House (right inside Ace’s ballpark).

So who will it be? The Aces or the River Cats? Pick your team and join us at 7:00 pm for a night of fun, baseball, and a little bit of altruism, on the July 6th Battle for the Sierra at the Reno Aces Ball Park.

Tickets are available here. See you at the ol’ ball game!
